Our Story

Our winery is located in the beautiful village of Salamiou. It was established on the 6th of August 1991, although the winemaking history of the area is more than a century old. Salamiou is 35km northeast of Paphos at the height of 700m. The area surrounding the winery and the vineyards of the village, is an untapped environmental treasure which happens to fall within the Natura 2000 selected region.

Lagria winery started as a small family business by three founding cousins. It’s current premises are 900m2 with plans of expanding in the future. Their vision was and still is to ‘’produce wines of the highest quality possible by keeping them pure from chemicals and to become the brand of choice for wine lovers in Cyprus and abroad.’’

The name was inspired by a part of mountain that is located close to the Winery called ‘’LAGRIA’’ as a ode to the village that the cousin grew up in. While the name is written in English at the moment, until 2015 it was written in Greek, “ΛΑΚΡΙΑ”.

The Cellar

The winery is built on the side of a small cliff. Due to the fact that a part of it was left exposed in the cellar it created the ideal temperature naturally throughout the year for our wines. Our cellar can fit approximately 100 000 bottles of wine or more.

The tasting room

Our, recently renovated, tasting room is the last place you will see when visiting our premises. The wood paneled walls in combination with the warm colors create a cozy environment, ideal to have a drink. The room serves as an event hall hosting wine tastings, food preparation performances, weddings, gatherings and more.
